Palmstruch #024
Provenance
Johan Wilhelm Palmstruch (1770-1811) was a Swedish captain of cavalry, artist and naturalist. In 1802, the first part of his vast work Svensk Botanik (Swedish Botany; 1802-1843) was published upon which he received a royal privilege. The figures were drawn by Palmstruch himself, usually painted from life, and the engravings were made by major K.V. Venus, Palmstruch, and Johan Gustaf Ruckman. The last volumes of the work were published after Palmstruch’s death in 1811.
