Sea Charts #101
Provenance
Southern Scandinavia from Theatrum Orbis Terrarum. 1570. Abraham Ortelius, Antwerp. Recognised as the first modern atlas, with all map leaves of uniform sizes. It was also one of the first map tomes printed with engraved copperplates, allowing finer detail than with the old woodcuts.
Part of our first collection of historical sea charts by generations of pioneering chart makers, such as Abraham Ortelius (-1598), Petter Gedda (-1697) and Gustaf Klint (-1840).
