Provenance
In 1742, the Italian doctor and malacologist Niccolò Gualtieri published his work Index Testarum Conchyliorum, quae adservantur in Museo Nicolai Gualtieri” (“List of the shells of shellfish which are preserved in the museum of Niccolò Gualtieri”). This collection, which is deposited at the Museo storia natural di Pisa, is internationally considered one of the main systematic reviews of seashells and mollusks.
